Barcelona are set to announce the signing of Paulinho in a deal worth £36.5million.
The Brazilian midfielder will join from Chinese Super League side, Guangzhou Evergrande, where he has been playing for two years now.
Barca have remained keen on Paulinho all summer and opened their bidding with a £17million bid. However, they have doubled that, especially with Liverpool playing hardball over Philippe Coutinho.
“It is a unique opportunity for me to be able to play for Barcelona, the best team in the world and surrounded by the best players.
“I have to talk to my president, since I got the proposal I have not stopped thinking about it and I am waiting for everything to be resolved this week,” he told Mundo Deportivo in July, when he thought the move was close to completion.
The La Liga giants are desperate to beef up their squad ahead of the new season, after Neymar left for Paris Saint-Germain in a £200million deal last week.
