Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has confirmed that Paul Pogba is no longer captain of the team.
Mourinho has been publicly critical of the French midfielder, after dropping him from his starting XI towards the end of last season.
The infighting between the player and his manager escalated once again, after the Frenchman’s performance against Wolves last Saturday.
And on Monday, reports surfaced that Mourinho had stripped him of captaincy a development he confirmed to reporters after their penalty shoot-out defeat to Derby County on Tuesday night.
“No, the only truth is that I made a decision that Paul is not the second captain anymore. No fallout, just a decision that I can make, I’m the manager and I’ve made the decision.
“The person who made the decision to make him not the second captain is the same one who made him the second captain in the first place, me.
“I’ve made a decision as a manager, which I don’t have to explain to you,” Mourinho said.
