Lionel Messi had fans drooling with an “unreal” dribble against Espanyol.
La Liga’s official Twitter account posted footage of the solo run from the Barcelona superstar, with the caption: “So nearly the assist of the season from Leo Messi!”

It is the 65th minute when Messi picks up the ball in his own half. He proceeds to slalom past four defenders before producing a nutmeg to pick out Luis Suarez in the box.
Suarez fires an instant shot at goal but, unfortunately for Barcelona, Espanyol goalkeeper Diego Lopez turns it away.
Barcelona supporters responded by hailing their hero.
“Lionel Messi is absolutely unreal,” wrote one fan.
“Absolute INSANE run from Lionel Messi. Started from Baraa half, ran past give players then a nutmeg pass to Suarez,” a second said.
“Lionel Messi. What a move,” a third commented.
“What a run Lionel Messi,” a fourth said.
“How is Lionel Messi even a human being?” another asked.
It was an entertaining clash between Espanyol and Barcelona at RCDE Stadium as the home side nicked a late equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw in the derby.
Espanyol were leading at half-time thanks to David Lopez’s 23rd-minute effort. Barcelona managed to quickly turn the score around after the break, however. Luis Suarez netted on 50 minutes before Arturo Vidal grabbed the visitors’ second.
Messi and co were unable to hold on to all three points as Wu Lei hit an 88th-minute leveller.
The result saw Barcelona’s advantage over Real Madrid at the top of the table reduced to goal difference.

It was a rare blank from Messi, which prompted rival fans to troll the 31-year-old.
“Lionel Messi only score against farmers and plumbers this season,” one said. “They can’t even beat the worst team in La Liga.”
A second wrote: “Messi is the worst big game player of all time.”
While a third asked: “Finished?”
