Manchester City have donated the use of the Etihad Stadium to the National Health Service to aid the fight against coronavirus.
The 55,000 seater stadium is likely to be used by the NHS to run training courses for staff involved on the frontline to treat the pandemic, according to Sky Sports.
The government have sought creative solutions to the need for greater medical space in the last fortnight and work has begun on the Excel Centre in east London to be transformed into a hospital.
With the peak of the pandemic expected in the UK in around a fortnight’s time, the government have ramped up use of facilities elsewhere and a temporary hospital is being prepared at the Manchester Central Convention Complex in the city centre.

City opened their doors to the emergency services in the aftermath of the Manchester bombing in 2017, when the Etihad was used as refuge for families of victims and casualties of the attack.
It comes as the UK announced its death toll had surpassed 1000 deaths. The latest government figures on Saturday showed a 34% rise in deaths, with 260 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total dead to 1,019.
The UK has conducted 120,776 tests since the outbreak with 17,089 confirmed cases.
