The European Union has slammed the new travel ban issued to travellers from European countries by U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday due to the Coronavirus epidemic, blasting Trump's decision as a “unilateral” decision taken “without consultation.”Coronavirus has taken a toll on Europe with Italy the hardest hit. Trump on Thursday announced travel restrictions against European countries excluding the UK and Ireland, saying Europe hasn't done enough to stop the deadly virus from spreading. In a joint statement by EU Council president Charles Michel and the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, they insisted that the coronavirus pandemics is a “global crisis, not limited to any continent and it requires cooperation rather than unilateral action.”“The European Union disapproves of the fact that the U.S. decision to improve a travel ban was taken unilaterally and without consultation,” they said.Von der Leyen and Michel also dismissed Trump’s suggestion that the EU has not done enough in fighting the disease.'The European Union is taking strong action to limit the spread of the virus.” Michel also tweeted: “We will assess the situation today.
