Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has raised alarm over Wilfred Ndidi’s new centre-back position at Leicester City, saying ‘it’s not suitable for the player’.

When Leicester City were faced by a defensive crisis before their opening Premier League game of the season, attentions quickly switched to Ndidi, who was tipped to feature in central defence.

With Johnny Evans and captain Wes Morgan unable to feature for varying reasons (the former is still serving a three-game suspension from last season while the latter got injured in a pre-season fixture vs Sheffield Wednesday), Brendan Rodgers knew he had only one fit centre-back in Caglar Soyuncu.

Speaking on Sports radio 88.9 FM, Oliseh blamed Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers, for experimenting with Ndidi’s career by changing him from defensive midfielder to manage the central defence.

According to Oliseh, playing in the central defence will not help the Super Eagles player because he is not originally for that position.

He, however, appealed to Rodgers to return Ndidi back to his normal position and hire fresh legs to fill the vacuum already created by the absence of the two Leicester’s defenders.

Although, Ndidi has been showing good promises in that new role especially when he was drafted into the centre-back in their opening Premier League game against the newly-promoted side, the Baggies.

The Nigeria international paired Caglar Soyuncu at the heart of the Foxes’ defence following the unavailability of Jonny Evans, Wes Morgan and Filip Benkovic.
