No fewer than three passengers have been reported dead when a truck lost control and rammed into a bus along the Lagos-Ibadan highway, Ogun State.
Aside the deceased victims, two other persons were injured in the accident involving about three vehicles.
It was gathered that an unregistered Toyota Camry, which was on a high speed, had overtaken the DAF truck loaded with empty beer bottles outbound Lagos.
In the process, the truck registered as AKD 361 XY, lost control and rammed into the vehicle before it, a Toyota Sienna, marked SHS 31 XH.
“Three out of the five passengers in the Sienna bus died on the spot,” the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) spokespersons, Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, said on Saturday.
Akinbiyi said the incident occurred around 4pm, blaming it on reckless overtaking by the driver of Camry car.
However, Akinbiyi disclosed the driver of the Camry car, who caused the crash, had escaped before the arrival of TRACE officials and policemen to the scene of the incident.
He added that the corpse of the three deceased victims were deposited at Idera mortuary in Sagamu, adding that the injured were taken to Famobis Hospital in Lotto area of Mowe for treatment.
